Shawn C. Ciecko, M.D. F.A.C.S.

Dr. Shawn C. Ciecko  is the President of ISMS Team ENT and director of the mission.  He graduated from the University of Rochester and attended the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed both internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Ciecko spent two years as Duke’s chief resident in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery. He has received several honors in his career including Duke Hospital’s consultant of the year in 2006. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society and is currently a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ciecko is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has a special interest in Thyroid Surgery. He performs Ultrasound guided biopsies for thyroid nodules in the office and was Co-director of the 2010 Long Island College Hospital’s Head and Neck Symposium on Thyroid disease. Dr. Ciecko’s interests are in adult and pediatric ENT, advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, obstructive sleep apnea, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery for trauma. He is currently a clinical instructor at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and operates at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island.

Marcia Levine, RN, MSN

Marcia is the Vice-President of ISMS Team ENT and is integral in the operations of all mission functions. Marcia earned her BSN and Masters in Nursing Administration from Mercy College. Her past experience is extensive drawing from years of work in both the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit as well as the Neurologic Intensive Care Units at New York Presbytarian/Cornell. After serving as the patient care director of Perioperative services at Columbia she has taken on the role of Director of Nursing and Perioperative Services at New York Hospital Queens.

Mark E. Carney M.D.

Dr. Mark Carney received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse in 1989. He completed his General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He went on to work as attending surgeon at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach and served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Miami. Dr. Carney was selected as one of the “Top Doctors in Miami” by Miami Metro magazine, November, 1999.
Dr. Carney is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has special expertise in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, voice problems, and Head and Neck Cancer Surgery.
Dr. Carney has returned to Staten Island, where he grew up, and is practicing at our Staten Island location. He is currently affiliated with Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, is the vice president of the Richmond County Medical Society, and is a faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology at Downstate Medical Center.

David I. Bough, M.D. F.A.C.S.

I. David Bough, Jr. is a board certified Otolaryngologist. He received his Bachelors Degree in Economics from Dartmouth College, his Masters Degree in Physiology from Georgetown University, and his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College. In 1994, he completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He has had additional training in the use of lasers, the treatment of voice disorders, head and neck cancer, and endoscopic sinus surgery. He was the first Otolaryngologist to perform Balloon Sinuplasty in both Bergen and Rockland counties and continues to be a leading pioneer in this breakthrough technique. He was one of the first in the area to embrace Coblation Tonsillectomy Technique and Pillar Implantation. He has particular interest in caring for patients with thyroid and parathyroid disease, nasal and sinus obstruction, sleep disorders, and snoring.
Dr. Bough has authored numerous articles in the medical literature and has lectured at several local and national meetings. He maintained an academic affiliation as an Assistant Professor at Jefferson Medical School from 1994 -2005. He currently has an academic appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Bough has served on multiple committees including the Nominating Committee of the Bergen County Medical Society, the Medical Executive Committee, the Surgical Control Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the Standards Committee, and the Bioethics Committee of various local hospitals. He maintains full privileges at The Valley Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Nyack Hospital, and Surgicare of Ridgewood.

Guillermo Cienfuegos, M.D.

Dr. Guillermo Cienfuegos, a specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery as well as burn management. He has Degrees awarded by the National University of Cordoba and the Medical Council of Córdoba, Argentina.
He completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Children’s Hospital under the training of doctors Luis Rafael Cinelli Nahas in the city of Cordoba, Argentina.
He then went on to train in facial cosmetic surgery and surgical treatment of migraine, breast cosmetic surgery and comprehensive treatment of infant malformations, with the world renowned plastic surgeons at Rainbow Babies at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio.
