Construction is underway at the first eye hospital in the Himalayan area of Bhakunde Besi in Nepal

ISMS partners with Dooley Intermed in building the first eye hospital in the Himalayan area of Bhakunde Besi in Nepal. It is Nepal’s poorest district with population of 600,000+. There are tens of thousands of patients in that area who are suffering from eye diseases and not a single hospital dedicated to provide eye care to them. We are proud to part of this ambitious outreach and in building the first and only eye hospital in that area.

Operation International Returns from Ghana

Team New York completed its mission at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, Ghana on March 25, 2014.  The hospital is a very busy facility that covers a large region and provides service to more than 250,000 patients every year.  It was quite obvious that the hospital is overwhelmed due to lack of resources and the large number of patients.  The surgical services are covered by one surgeon, one gynecologist and a couple of anesthesia providers, but due to the lack of resources a limited number of surgical procedures are being done, mostly emergencies.

Operation International Team New York returns from Linares, Chile

Operation InternationalTeam New York embarked on a 10 day mission to Linares, in the Maule region of Chile.  The 18 member team included General surgeons, OB/GYN surgeons, a Thoracic surgeon, a Plastic surgeon, a Critical Care Physician, anesthesia providers, and a complete staff of nurses.  During it’s time in Linares, the team performed 85 surgeries, many of them complex.  The patient population ranged from infants to the elderly and they were treated for variety of conditions.  Some of these surgeries were life changing cosmetic procedures and some were lifesaving complex operations.

Haiti 2010

The Haiti relief mission was Operation International first disaster relief mission and it was conducted in the Haitian Community Hospital in Port au Prince.  A 17 man team including an orthopedic surgeon, a plastic surgeon, three trauma/general surgeons, internist, intensive care specialist, anesthesia and nursing staff was recruited and all supplies and equipment were assembled in 4 days.
